Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Scores ("the Service"), operated from Ontario, Canada. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of Service

Scores provides a leaderboard backend service for games, including APIs for submitting and retrieving scores. The Service is currently provided free of charge, though we reserve the right to introduce paid tiers or features in the future.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
  • Submit content that is defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
  • Use the Service to transmit malware or other harmful code
  • Abuse the API by exceeding reasonable usage limits

3. User Content

You are solely responsible for any data you submit to the Service, including player names, scores, and metadata. You represent that you have the right to submit such data and that it does not violate any third party rights.

4. Data Retention

Scores may be deleted after a number of days, or kept indefinitely depending on the leaderboard settings. User accounts, and all the game data associated with them, can be deleted at any time. We reserve the right to delete any data at any time without notice, but we will try not to.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any defects will be corrected.

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE SERVICE OPERATOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

  • Your use or inability to use the Service
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers and/or any personal information stored therein
  • Any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Service
  • Any bugs, viruses, or other harmful code that may be transmitted through the Service
  • Any errors or omissions in any content

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Service operator from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

9. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
